In January of 1978, Mr. Royer was approached by two police officers who were at the Miami International Airport working undercover. They were suspicious of a man who fit the profile of a drug carrier. The suspect was dressed casually and acted in a nervous state while carrying heavy luggage. The suspect’s name was Mr. Royer who was approached and asked to show a driver’s license and an airline ticket he had bought in cash.
The Police Detain Mr. Royer
Mr. Royer was compliant and showed the two police officers his driver’s license and airline ticket. His ticket and driver’s license, however, had different names. Add that with the fact that he was observed as acting nervous was more than enough to make the police believe that he was trafficking illegal narcotics.
